Biography

Aloptogin Tushar (b. 1968, Nachol, Chapai Nawabganj) is a Bangladeshi painter, educator, and art researcher whose career spans more than three decades. He earned his BFA (1991) and MFA (1997) from the Delhi College of Art, Delhi University, where he graduated with first division results. Later, in 2006, he pursued higher studies and research in Japan through the prestigious Monbukagakusho Scholarship, completing his program with distinction.

He is currently serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, and as the Chairman of the Drawing and Painting Department at Jagannath University, Dhaka, where he has guided a new generation of artists with his knowledge and vision. Despite his long dedication to painting, his first solo exhibition was held only recently, at Galleri Kaya, marking another important milestone.

His artistic journey reflects versatility across a wide range of mediums, including charcoal, pastel, pencil, watercolour, acrylic, and oil. His works encompass figural studies, portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and historical themes. His celebrated “Nachol Bidroho” series documents the Santali Peasant Revolution of 1949–50, combining historical memory with artistic expression.
